A Quote of Note

To the extent we can live without demanding or expecting (except from ourselves), so can we be free from disillusionment and disappointment. To expect something from another because it's right is to court unhappiness. Others can and will only give what they are able, not what you desire they give. When you cease placing conditions on your love you have taken a giant step toward learning to love.

~Leo Buscaglia

Expectations vs. Intentions

The success of "The Secret" has exposed the truth that what we focus on creates our reality. Interest in consciously creating our reality or what might be thought of as "being conscious when interacting with reality" is an important step toward living a life of joy and fulfillment. Naturally, we need to remember we co-create our existence in partnership with our Source and are not the origin of our life.

But let's think about just what sort of lens we are looking through when we focus on our life? Is that lens created by our expectations or intentions? What is the difference?

Expectation in my view is what we set up when we create a picture in our mind of what we want. That picture is usually very detailed and specific. Once created, it remains as the template against which we measure anything that appears.

For several years while single, I held a picture of the partner I expected to find. The trouble was my picture was so ideal, so perfect that no one ever matched it. My expectations actually prevented me from finding a mate because I was so hung up on the details (looks, status, etc).

Expectations have a quality of "I want this" and involve anticipation of fulfillment from a rather self-centered, needy perspective.

On the other hand, intentions arise out of an inner desire or plan for our life that involves some sort of action. There is willingness to take action to create appropriate environment out of which what we desire can arise.

For example, when a farmer intends to have a plentiful harvest of crops, he takes the action of planting seeds in spring and weeding regularly through the summer to create the conditions for the fall harvest. If he just sat on his porch picturing in his mind that way he expects the field to look in the fall, there would be nothing to harvest.

What I am describing is the difference between wishful thinking and co-creating with our Source. Perhaps that is what is behind the saying, "God helps those who help themselves."

The problem of trying to manifest through expectations is that it leaves no room for something better.

Going back to my example of having expectations of what my partner would be like, I can tell you that my beloved husband Chuck didn't show up until I let go of knowing exactly what was best for me. He has many of the qualities I was seeking but there were many other qualities that I hadn't even factored in and he came in a quite different package that I had "expected."

Basically, when we seek to create the future by definite expectations, we are doomed to disappointment either by not finding anything that could possible measure up or by finding a match and discovering later it wasn't quite the right thing.

We can best create possibilities for a desired future by holding an intention of what we would like that includes: 1) a willingness to do all that we can to create the environment for our desire to appear and 2) an openness to accept our intention or something better, leaving room for the Universe to gift us beyond our imagination.

Now that's creating through intention in harmony with the Divine!
New Services Q&A

Q: I saw that you have listed a new service called "Life Enhancement Consultation." What is that and when would I consider using it?

A: Often after an astrological consultation, clients ask if there is a way to work with me further on the issues that get uncovered in that session. For example, if I told you the current cycles encourage inner listening, you might want to learn more about quieting the mind and meditation. If you realized your long held dream of a career change had a chance to manifest in the next year, you might want to explore the steps to take to make that happen.

A Life Enhancement session allows you to go deeper to explore new options, confront the barriers and create intentions and actions to bring more joy and fulfillment into your life. In the session, I use my life experience and intuition to provide spiritual insight. Think of it as a "spiritual coaching" session.

You do not need to have had an astrology reading with me to request a Life Enhancement session. You only need an issue or goal that you would like help in addressing through spiritual insight. Open up new opportunities to thrive.

Astrological Events

NOTE: These days contain strong energies that influence everyone to a greater or lesser degree. Consult a professional astrologer for more detailed and personal information.

Tue June 3, 3:25 PM ET - NEW MOON at 14 Gemini
In Gemini, we consider the flow of information received and expressed, but since Gemini's ruler Mercury is currently retrograde, we need to avoid information overload. Venus is tight to this lunation also which encourages us to use our intuition as well as our intellect and to trust synchronicities as well as facts. It is a particularly fruitful time to share our thoughts and feelings with those we care about. But since retrograde Mercury squares Uranus, you would do well to question your customary ways of thinking and open to some very new information.

If you wish upon the New Moon (within 3 days before or after), you have the possibility of fulfillment by the time of the Full Moon. Gemini New Moon wishes relate to: motion/activity, learning, communication skills, logic/cleverness, social ease, positive daily interactions and calming mental anxiety.

Sat June 7 - Sun in Gemini conjoins Mercury, Mercury conjoins Venus
A mentally active day, you may feel like staying busy by socializing or taking a day trip. Mercury with Venus may incline your form of speech and writing to be more artistic and more pleasant to others.  Your friends just might provide some new insights.

Mon June 9 - Sun in Gemini conjoins Venus
Your personal popularity could be increased bringing forth a new relationship,
especially if you have personal planets near 19 Gemini.

Thu June 12 - Venus in Gemini squares Uranus in Pisces
Today you could find you prefer to be on your own rather than have to accommodate others.

Fri June 13 - Sun in Gemini squares Uranus in Pisces, Venus in Gemini trines Neptune in Aquarius, and Pluto retrogrades back into Sagittarius
The Sun-Uranus connection suggests you should expect the unexpected and with Venus and Neptune meeting the same day, it could be love and romance that are unexpected. Pluto's tiptoe back into Sag could return a degree of optimism and expansion in the financial markets and elsewhere, but don't be fooled. This is the last phase of the Sag optimism before we re-enter the cold facts of Capricorn such as we saw when Pluto first entered Capricorn in late January.

Sat June 14 - Sun in Gemini trines Neptune in Aquarius
Continuing with the theme of love and romance from yesterday, you could find idealism flavorings the whole weekend. Another expression for this alignment is the use of imagination in creative projects.

Wed June 18, 1:30 PM ET - FULL MOON at 28 Sagittarius, Venus in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius
This intense Full Moon pits the conscious mind (Sun/Venus) in a struggle with unconscious soul (Moon/Pluto). It may be a challenging time when we are forced to make a conscious choice to give up something familiar in order to enter unknown possibilities for the future, requiring great trust and awareness. Any stress in relationships will be highlighted at this time giving you an opportunity to heal disowned parts of yourself. Eccentric Uranus' square to this Sun-Moon opposition adds another layer of uncertainty. Remember flexibility and a willingness to explore unfamiliar territory can lead to freedom for those able to take chances and turn chaos into creativity.

Thu June 19 - Mercury in Gemini stations going direct at 13 Gemini
Once again we are grateful when communications get back on track. Ideas that have been languishing and connections left hanging in the air are ready to be renewed, but wait just a couple days for Mercury to get up to speed.

Fri June 20 - Sun in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius, Sun enters Cancer (Summer Solstice)
Others may be more aggressive and try to dominate you. Since this also is true in the greater world, look for a long summer of jockeying for power, but then that's what we expect during election season.

Sat June 21 - Mars in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius
Are you sure you know what you are doing? It can be easy to get very confused about your goals and aspirations. In a day or so the fog will clear.

Thu June 26 - Uranus stations going retrograde at 23 Pisces
While Uranus goes retrograde until November 27, it will dance back and forth in conjunction with Jupiter producing innovation and new ideas. It is also an opportunity to recognize that freedom is something that lives in one's heart and mind. Letting go of limiting beliefs releases creativity to reshape our lives. Watch out for sudden events that could turn your world upside down if you have personal planets at 23 Pisces.

Mon June 30 - Mars in Leo trines Pluto in Sagittarius
There is power to move forward as our individual will (Mars) harmonizes with the will of our higher self (Pluto). Focused energy is a great ally in living a conscious life.

As always, your comments and feedback are welcome and appreciated.
