Step up to the Mirror
Own the Love

Relationships have our attention every year during the New Moon of Libra, but for several reasons (Mercury's retrograde into Libra, Venus making several aspects to the outer planets) this topic is even more important this year.

Clients and friends who know of my relationship with Chuck Adams often ask me how I got so lucky. It is true I am blessed with a partner who is affectionate, generous, and deeply spiritual. But I always tell them...relationship is not so much about the other person as it is about you.

How can that be? Aren't you looking for the "right mate?" Isn't it important to find the "right one?" In my experience, the issue is not so much finding the right mate. That will happen naturally but what is more important is "being the right mate."

All relationships begin and end with you. If you are not open to sharing yourself honestly and openly and if you question whether you are worthy of love, there is no one who will ever be able to storm the walls or convince you to receive the love they offer.

You need to begin the deep work of ridding yourself of all the critical voices from other relationships (parents, teachers, or old relationships). You need to love and accept yourself just as you are, imperfect but still growing.

After all, why do you expect someone else to love you if you can't love yourself?

When your relationship with yourself is healthy, you are able to look upon another with acceptance of their human frailties and find their unique qualities are beautiful or at least interesting rather than troubling.

When you are struggling with unloved parts of yourself, they will be projected on others. In truth, our relationships are wonderful mirrors where we project our unhealed stuff and then, if we are not aware, blame the other person for it.

When challenges come due to differences of point-of-view, rather than blame the relationship, I suggest you "step up to the mirror." Discuss the situation as if you are talking to a different part of yourself with the same love and acceptance you would give to yourself. Open to what the other person is feeling and you may be surprised how quickly the tension is defused and solutions appear. This is what I call "owning the Love."

This month the planetary energies are offering support for "stepping up to the mirrors" past and present, whether they are easy or challenging, and "own the Love" that is there when you truly honor your self and accept differences in others.

A Quote of Note

"Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what was in nostalgia, nor forward to what it might be in dread or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now."

NOTE: These days contain strong energies that influence everyone to a greater or lesser degree. Consult a professional astrologer for more detailed and personal information.

Thursday, Oct 11, 1:01 am ET - NEW MOON at 18 Libra

With the New Moon in Libra we all have an opportunity to renew and refresh our exiting relationships or open the door to new connections. With support from Neptune and Jupiter, you could find warmth and healing, but you must be willing, of course.

If you wish upon the New Moon (within 3 days before or after), you have the possibility of fulfillment by the time of the Full Moon. Libra New Moon wishes relate to: marriage, negotiating skills, harmony, teamwork, sociability/diplomacy, refinement, and healing codependency.

Friday, Oct 12 - Mercury goes retrograde at 9 Scorpio

Coming on the heels of a New Moon, during this Mercury retrograde the reviewing we do may just be concerning past relationships. Don't be surprised if old flames or friends return to your life giving another chance to forgive.

Sunday, Oct 14 - Venus conjoins Saturn in Virgo

Sometimes the people we love and the things we care about can be a burden. You might find yourself focused on what isn't working in your relationship. Why not measure the security it provides and the value of consistency.

Tuesday, Oct 23 - Saturn conjoins the South Node of the Moon

Dissatisfaction with others and our self from the past can lead to a downward spiral or to the realization that we are wounded and doing our best. Forgiveness is what we do for ourselves in order to move forward without baggage.

Thursday, Oct 25 - Venus in Virgo opposes Uranus in Pisces

Following the continuing theme this month of relationships, today we are urged to open to new ways of relating. Be creative and imaginative with others.

Friday, Oct 26, 12:51 am ET - FULL MOON at 3 Taurus

The stability of the Taurus Moon faces off with the Sun in Scorpio's desire to go deeper at the same time as Pluto is making its last pass of the Galactic Center. It is a good time to set you intention clearly so the universe can assist in manifesting it. Your personal values really can influence your financial outcome.

Monday, Oct 29 - Venus in Virgo squares Jupiter in Sagittarius

Prudence is being challenged by the urge for expansion today. Bold gestures and extravagant actions are best balanced by reason.

Tuesday, Oct 30 - Jupiter in Sagittarius sextiles Neptune in Aquarius

These two inspirational planets offer opportunity for opening to imagination and hope. From the inspiration of your inner truth, worldly goals feel possible now and totally real.

Thursday, Nov 1 - Mercury goes direct at 23 Libra

Hooray! Relationship glitches and other communication problems of the past 3 weeks have a chance for resolution in the next few days. Take steps to clear up misunderstandings.

Tuesday, Nov 6 - Venus in Virgo squares Pluto in Sagittarius

Your ideals and the practicalities of life may clash. Look for creative solutions.

Astro Mini-Lesson
The Elements: FIRE

Having completed the descriptions of the aspects last month, we will now explore the significance of the Elements. There are four elements to which every sign has an affinity.

The yang element of Fire represents energy, enthusiasm and inspiration. The joy of living and the spiritual side of our nature comes through the Fire element. The Fire signs - Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius - are forceful, ardent and extremely impulsive.

Those people who have this element prominent are active, often dominant and not willing to let circumstances control them. They have a strong will and tend to push their way through life, demonstrating an intense quality.

Fire has an emotional aspect, the more active emotions such as anger, joy and enthusiasm. Fire influence people easily demonstrate love and affection, but dislike sadness and grief. These are not passive people. They have difficulty staying still long enough to listen to what you have to say or even to be self-reflective. As a result, they can be insensitive and over power others, while never intending to hurt anyone.

Fire sign people are leaders, with a "can-do" attitude that can act as inspiration to others. Just don't get in their way when they are on a mission because they are built to move forward with zest.

As always, your comments and feedback are welcome and appreciated.
