Astrology in Matters Newsletter
By Dianne Eppler Adams, CAP
Virgo New Moon - September 21, 2006
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In this issue
-- What you should know about Eclipses
-- Public Appearances
-- Astrological Coming Events
This is not a Sun sign newsletter that purports to offer
personally predictive information, but rather it provides information about the
celestial movements that affect everyone. For personally predictive guidance, a
private session with an astrologer is advised.
What you should know about Eclipses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At least twice a year, I alert you to coming Lunar and Solar Eclipses. We just
had a Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) on September 7 and a Solar Eclipse (New Moon) on
September 22. You may be wondering what they mean, should you be concerned and
how might you prepare for them. Let me explain.
Technically speaking, eclipses only occur when the Earth aligns with the Sun and
Moon. During Lunar Eclipses (also at Full Moon), the Earth comes between the Sun
and the Moon casting a shadow over the Moon’s surface. Solar Eclipses, on the
other hand, occur at the New Moon when the Moon appears between the Earth and
the Sun blocking the Sun’s light to Earth.
There are at least two Lunar and two Solar Eclipses per year and occasionally
more. The point in the zodiac where this occurs actually travels backward
through the zodiac. The last Solar Eclipse of March 29 finished off the
Aries-Libra series and now we are in eclipses that fall on the Virgo-Pisces
axis.
Enough of the technical stuff! What’s important to know is that Eclipses bring
change. Oh, no! Not change! Yes, we all know that our closets often develop
clutter and get dusty. Periodically we need to open them up, throw some things
out and make room for new acquisitions. I realize this is more difficult for
some than others. This is a metaphor for the significance of Eclipses.
Eclipses usher in a time when there may be something that ends or leaves your
life, but the underlying significance is not loss, but opening space for
something new to arrive in your life.
If you understand and accept this, you will not be fearful or concerned about
eclipse energy. In days of yore, the court astrologers would foretell the death
of kings at eclipse times. There’s some evidence that eclipses are more likely
harbingers of death on the world stage rather that in individual lives. Princess
Diana, Mother Theresa and John F. Kenney Jr all departed during an eclipse.
What matters is where the Eclipse falls in your chart. If it connects within 2
degrees of a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars), you will
undoubtedly feel it based on what planet and sign is hit. For the rest of us, it
may influence matters generally related to the houses of your chart that it
falls in.
Lunar Eclipses last longer in space but shorter in influencing your life. You
may be more emotional about something for perhaps a week.
Solar Eclipses last only minutes but have a long window of influence, making
them much more powerful. I have observed that window of influence to be as much
as 3 months before and 6 months after the actual Eclipse time, with 3 months
afterward being the strongest time. Solar Eclipses have a way of moving you from
one state of consciousness into a whole new awareness and that means personal
growth in my book.
How can you prepare? Well, you really can’t know for sure what a given Eclipse
will mean for you. You can, however, take note of the personal planets and
houses affected and consider their meanings. Most of all, staying open to events
and awareness that may appear as loss, while looking for the rainbow of new
understanding will help you ease the stress and maximize the learning.
Tomorrow’s Solar Eclipse happens at 29 Virgo. Look where that falls in your
chart and expect to clean out the closet (figuratively speaking) in that area of
your life, making room for the new awareness that inevitably will follow.
As always, your comments are welcome at SpiritinMatters@aol.com.

Astrological Coming Events
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Note: This month there is much less activity with no major planets changing
signs or retrograding. The pressure of the Saturn in Leo opposite Neptune
retrograding in Aquarius both squared by Jupiter in Scorpio (t-square formation)
is probably enough for us all to handle while still being influenced by the
Solar Eclipse in the last degree of Virgo.
Friday, September 22, 7:45 am ET – NEW MOON/SOLAR ECLIPSE at 29 Virgo
This second New Moon in Virgo is a powerful solar eclipse that is sure to
produce events on the world stage as it falls directly on what is called the
Aries Point (0 degrees of the Cardinal Signs). This eclipse is conjunct the
Moon's South Node in Virgo, reminding us that focusing on details leads to
losing sight of the big picture. The North Node in compassionate Pisces points
towards inspiration and idealism as the way forward. New Moons are times of
beginning, but with Pluto's presence and the eclipse influence, this one's more
about letting go. If you have your Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Midheaven or another
personal planet near 0 degrees of the Cardinal signs, get ready for an important
change in your life.
If you wish upon the New Moon (within 3 days before or after), you have the
possibility of fulfillment by the time of the Full Moon. Virgo New Moon wishes
relate to: Physical health/diet/exercise, work/job, efficient organizing, clear
discrimination, helpfulness, order, relaxing perfectionism.
Sunday, September 24 - Jupiter in Leo squares Neptune retrograde in Aquarius
The third and last of three squares between expansive planets Jupiter and
Neptune is either great of illusion or a time for spiritual illumination. If our
beliefs are rooted in fear, then negative fantasies may rise, but if they
instead involve transforming feelings into faith, we will find new hope.
Monday, September 25 - Venus in Virgo square Pluto in Sagittarius
With Pluto in moralistic Sagittarius challenging Venus in the critical sign of
Virgo, beware of letting rigid beliefs and complaints enter your relationships
with others or with yourself. The better approach is to be of practical service
to those in your life who may now be suffering a loss of faith in their life’s
direction. Just a simple act of kindness can awaken joy in others.
Friday, October 6, 11:13 pm ET – FULL MOON at 14 Aries
An independent Aries Moon opposes the Sun, Mars and Venus in
relationship-oriented Libra raising questions about the contrast between
compromise and self-interest. Focusing on individual needs can aid partnerships,
creating more joy and happiness to share.
Saturday, October 8 - Mercury in Scorpio goes into its retrograde shadow
Although Mercury doesn’t officially station and retrograde until Oct 29, it will
move into its shadow today at 9 Scorpio - the point where it will move forward
again on Nov 17. Begin to complete contracts and make large purchase as soon as
possible in order to avoid miscommunications of Mercury in retrograde.
Sunday, October 15 - Mercury in Scorpio squares Neptune retrograde in
Aquarius
The defensive Mercury in Scorpio is challenged by image-making Neptune
retrograde in socially- conscious Aquarius. Don’t allow your imagination to be
guided by your paranoia. Turn your images into positive possibilities.
